GDC Ramkote celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr.B R Ambedkar on 12-04-2025 To commemorate 134 th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, highlighting his contributions to Indian society and the Constitution, a Special Lecture on "Life and works of Dr.B R Ambedkar" followed by recitation of the preamble of the IndianConstitution was organised by the NSS Unit of GDC Ramkote on 12/04/25. The programme was organised under the mentorship of the Principal of the college, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul. The objective of the event was to make students acquainted with the works and reforms of Dr. B R Ambedkar, a social reformer,jurist, economist, author, orator, a scholar and a thinker of comparative religions, also known as the Father of the Indian Constitution. Dr.B R Ambedkar was India's first Law Minister and the Chairman of the Drafting Committee for the new Constitution. He was a well-known statesman who fought for the rights of the Dalits and other socially backward classes. The programme began with the lecture delivered by Ms.Poonam Rani , faculty from the Department of Political Science who talked about Dr. Ambedkar's life, works, and contributions to Indian society.She mentioned that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was born into a Dalit family, was a social reformer, jurist, economist, and a champion for the rights of the marginalized, known as the "Father of the Indian Constitution" for his pivotal role in drafting it. He fought against caste inequality, advocating for social justice and equality, and his legacy continues to inspire social reform and empowerment in India. Thereafter, students and faculty participated in pledge taking ceremony on Preamble to the Indian Constitution, emphasizing its importance for all citizens of India. The programme saw enthusiastic participation of 60 students from BA Semester 2nd, 4th and 6th.The special lecture and preamble recitation successfully commemorated Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's birth anniversary, promoting awareness about his contributions and the importance of the Indian Constitution. The programme was organised by Prof. Anu Sharma, NSS PO who concluded it with a vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the speaker and the participants. The event was a fitting tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's legacy, inspiring students to appreciate his work and the Constitution's Faculty present included Prof.Pankaj Nandan, Prof.Suresh Chander, Prof.Vasundra Raje, Dr.Shakeeb, Dr Anu Salaria, Ms.Sakshi Mahajan and Mrs Preeti Mahajan.
