Celebration Of National Voter’s Day

NSS unit of GDC Ramkote organized a series of activities viz. Pledge Taking Ceremony, Slogan Writing Competition, Quiz Competition and Awareness Rally on the National Voter’s Day. The day is celebrated on 25th January every year to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India. The theme of this year was “Nothing like Voting, I Vote for Sure”. The program commenced with the welcome address by Prof. Karam Chand, Coordinator AKAM. He deliberated in detail about the importance of the day and elaborated that the purpose of celebration is to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrollment, especially for new voters. Prof. Ramneek Kaur, Principal in her address, emphasized that everyone should cast his/ her vote to build a strong democratic nation. The college staff along with the students pledged to exercise the most non-violent tool to protect the democratic setup of India. In the Slogan Writing Competition Ms. Anjali Devi, Ms. Taniya Thakur and Ms. Meenakshi Sharma of Semester-V bagged 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions, respectively and in the Quiz Competition three teams with equal number of students were formed and were named A, B & C. Each team struggled hard to outshine the other. Finally, the Team-C came up with more correct answers and was declared winner. The whole proceedings of the competition were conducted by Prof. Rajesh Kumar, faculty from Computer Applications. Later, a Rally was organised under the supervision of Dr. Bavita Kumari, NSS PO to spread awareness among masses to cast their vote to build a strong nation. The entire program was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Ramneek Kaur, Principal of the college.
